Wednesday Walk Along: Peach Days 2019

The secret to living well and longer is: eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure.

Happy Labor Day! I feel like it’s been a while. How was your holiday?

We Furses celebrated with a busy, fun-filled weekend. Each year, Joe plays his fiddle in the Hurricane, Utah, Peach Days festival (“Boil ’em Cabbage Down”, anyone?). We don’t live in Hurricane, but Joe grew up there, and his high school band has entertained at the fair since they were teenagers. In fact, I feel like he’s a celebrity whenever we visit, because we get stopped every 10 minutes or so by a friendly face. It’s become a favorite tradition. We were also gifted some beautiful, freshly-picked peaches while there. Yum!

And did I mention that Joe is an emerging beekeeper? A couple of weeks ago, harvest time rolled around, and we bottled the liquid treasure in time to bring along. We sold just under 95 lbs. of raw, unfiltered, wildflower honey to our friends and family (and stockpiled our own pantry while we were at it).

Between the time in the car, walking around in the 100 degree weather, and the heavy food, the kids sure tuckered out quickly. They also loved having Daddy around for an extra day.

How about you? Did you enjoy your holiday? I hope however you celebrated, you had a wonderful time.

Here’s to a well-earned three day weekend, and more to come!

❤ Jenny

  1. Oooh… I’m liking this music.

My weekend was good. I had a date, and she isn’t ignoring me yet three days later. And I mostly sat around and relaxed the rest of the weekend, which is good after an extremely busy August. I was also supposed to go to “Jeromeville” to catch up over lunch with a friend who lives there, but she got sick.
