At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18: 1-4 (KJV)
On Sunday, we held our annual children’s program at my church. The kids sang beautifully, and they shared simple truths about their faith in Jesus. We gave them a few prompts, and here is what they said:
What is your favorite story about Jesus?
- When he calmed the sea.
- When He is in the Garden of Gethsemane, when He atoned for our sins. It is my favorite because it means we can live with Him someday, because we have been forgiven of our sins.
- When He told Noah to build the ark. The reason Noah built the ark is because God wanted to flood the earth because of how wicked the people were.
How do you follow Jesus?
- I follow Him by being nice.
- I can be like Jesus by helping others.
- I can be nice. I can be thankful and share.
- Don’t say swear words.
- I can find people that are sad and lonely and help them.
- I can be kind like bats. And don’t be bats that drink blood because those bats are mean bats. (🤣)
How do you share Christ’s love?
- I can share Christ’s love by choosing the right, serving others and being kind.
- I can share my Savior’s love by sharing the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Being a good example to my friends and family and love all those around me.
- I share Christ’s love by helping others and opening doors for them.
How do you feel your Saviors love?
- By loving people.
- I feel my Savior’s love when I say my prayers.
- I feel my Savior’s love when I say my prayers. I feel happy and calm.
- I smile after church.
- I feel my Savior’s love when my mom gives me kisses on my forehead. It makes me want to be kind to others.
The children ended with this song:
1. I feel my Savior’s love
In all the world around me.
His Spirit warms my soul
Through ev’rything I see.
He knows I will follow him,
Give all my life to him.
I feel my Savior’s love,
The love he freely gives me.
2. I feel my Savior’s love;
Its gentleness enfolds me,
And when I kneel to pray,
My heart is filled with peace.
He knows I will follow him,
Give all my life to him.
I feel my Savior’s love,
The love he freely gives me.
3. I feel my Savior’s love
And know that he will bless me.
I offer him my heart;
My shepherd he will be.
He knows I will follow him,
Give all my life to him.
I feel my Savior’s love,
The love he freely gives me.
4. I’ll share my Savior’s love
By serving others freely.
In serving I am blessed.
In giving I receive.
He knows I will follow him,
Give all my life to him.
I feel my Savior’s love,
The love he freely gives me.

I truly felt Jesus’ love during this sweet experience, and, today, I wanted to share it with all of you. Children must certainly be close to Him, and dearly beloved.
Here’s to a more humble and sincere faith, as we strive to become more like them.

Hearing kids witness is a joy all its own. They don’t usually have to ask where their next meal is coming from or if they’ll have shelter at night. They don’t doubt their parents will provide for them. They don’t doubt God will provide either. It’s so simple for them to rely on another. It’s the adults that need constant reminders (as Jesus did in the Matthew passage you shared.)
Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely. I need that reminder often myself. I’m glad my kids, and others, are there to offer it. Thanks for your time and thoughts ❤️.

nice video and song; talented kids like they are already grown up…the kingdom of God is within you; but except you become like little children, you shall not see the kingdom of God—the words of Jesus

Absolutely. Christ’s desire is that we catch these ones young and groom/nurture them for Him.
