Monday Mention: The Joyful Soul Project and The Beauty Coach Podcast

In case you missed it, I whipped out a great graphic (dutifully created in paint by a clear amateur πŸ˜‚) in Saturday’s post about self-awareness.

Being aware of my self-talk has absolutely changed my life, but, particularly in regard to the truths we tell ourselves, there are two podcasts that really inspired this shift.

They are:

#1: The Joyful Soul Project with Taffy Micheli- Episode 17- The Truth About Your Body.

#2: The Beauty Coach Podcast with Brenda Lomeli- Episode 21 – The Difference Between a ‘Diet Mentality’ vs Feeling Empowered About Your Health/Weight Goals.

Neither of these podcasts are on Spotify, but you can use these links to listen on Stitcher. I believe they are both on Apple Podcasts as well. They are both particular to health and fitness, with wildly different takes, so give them a try if that is something you are interested in!

Otherwise, I have a short takeaway for you:

Limiting Beliefs

Limiting beliefs affect each of us in their own way. Here are some examples:

  • I’m so tired.
  • This is my least favorite chore.
  • I hate Mondays!
  • This is too hard. Why try?
  • That’s just not me.

Can you relate?!

If so, rest easy. Like I said, it happens to all of us.

But I challenge you to start listening for these types of thoughts in your self-talk, and watch what happens as you choose to focus on a more positive outcome.

The Bible teaches us:

He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

Proverbs 16: 20

That doesn’t mean you will never be tired, worn down, or in need of comfort. And it definitely doesn’t mean that those things are bad.

It means

Happiness is a choice.

Here’s to choosing wisely!

  1. Good stuff. I remember reading something similar somewhere about switching from saying I β€œhave” to do something, to I β€œget” to do something. For example, instead of β€œI have to do laundry tonight” and it’s a tiresome chore that is never done; β€œI get to do laundry tonight” and I’m grateful for clothes and laundry machines and soap that smells good! It was a game changing concept for me. πŸ˜‰
