4 Ways Social Media Impacts Your Identity (Part 2)

Listen here + find us on all of your favorite platforms.

Show Notes:

Today we continue our discussion about social media!

Between this week & last week’s episode, we review four ways that social media impacts your identity:

  1. Your Physical vs. Your Digital Community
  2. Jealousy & Dissatisfaction vs. Gratitude
  3. The Disingenuous vs. Your Authentic Self
  4. Synthetic Validation vs. Internal Validation & True Connection

Last week we talked about:

  • pouring into our physical communities, not only our digital ones.
  • how comparison is the thief of joy.
  • how the antidote to jealousy & comparison is gratitude.

This week, we finish off our list with:

  • how sharing the real and the vulnerable gives other people permission to do the same, and helps us all not feel so alone.
  • how the number of likes or followers does not equate to your self worth.
  • how knowing & trusting your enoughness needs to come from within you.

Episode One-Liner: Be who you are, and love who you are, because nobody else can do that quite like you.

Episode Action Item: Choose an aspect of your personality that you normally shy away from sharing, and share that part of your authentic self with someone else.

    1. Mom of toddlers = I love Dr. Seuss! Thank you so much for listening to the podcast, too, that means a lot. I always catch podcasts when they are more well-established and just pick and choose the episodes that feel most applicable for me, so no worries if you miss any. Thank you for the well wishes and God bless, friend πŸ™.

  1. Jenny, this is such a needed message. For those of us who are believers in Jesus, we need to remember that He has a plan and a purpose for each of us, along with valuing and loving us so much that He gave His life. God bless you as you continue to bring words of wisdom. β™₯
