100 Days of Journal Prompts: Day 2

Each day, laptop and children permitting, I’ll share a prompt that’s been on my mind, and a few of my thoughts.

You are welcome to share your own perspective in the comments, or just journal it out!

What are some things that work well for other people, but may not be the best fit for me?

Playing off of yesterday’s prompt, I’ve been thinking about things that are true for other people, but may not be true for me.

Actually, it’s fun!

You know how, at work meetings, or in school, someone inevitably asks the question: “What is one fun fact about you?”

I hate that question πŸ˜‚.

But, this exercise reminded me that I am, in fact, unique.

I just have to own it to see it.

Make-up: I’ve maybe worn a week’s worth of makeup in my whole life. Maybe. My friends say that make-up is a form of self-care – that doing themselves up helps them feel ready to take on the day, even if no one will see it. I understand the feeling, but I usually arrive at it from a good shower and a cute outfit. One day, I might learn. Today is not that day πŸ˜‚.

Suspense: Perry Mason is the first television show I’ve watched all of the way through, possibly ever. Why, you ask? Because it had zero back plot. And I love that. I’ve seen other shows. Or, more accurately, the important parts. Just this week, I forwarded through Smallville and left my husband in the dust back on Season 4, so I could find some semblance of a happy ending. I do the same with books. I can’t handle the suspense… Which is why I’m so looking forward to the cheesy, predictable, lacking-suspense, Hallmark Christmas movies πŸ™ŒπŸ½.

What about you? Is there something true for most people that you break the mold on?

Let’s hear it!

  1. I’m a yes on the Christmas movies, too! I’ve already started watching them. πŸ˜€
And I’m with you on the makeup. I will put on mascara, but that’s just because I look scary without it, but other than that I’m good. πŸ™‚

    1. I don’t drink alcohol either, Kathy! Kindred spirits. My community is very conservative, but I can see how that would be a struggle with friendships. I agree. The people who matter don’t mind ❀

  2. Some people have said that I am un-American because I don’t like baseball or apple pie. 😏

I loved Perry Mason and Columbo (inherited from my mom). I love that they were hugely popular shows, not because the actors were fit, good-looking hunks, but because they were intriguing, intelligent, clever.

    1. I’ve never seen Columbo, but I love the way you describe it! I think they had to think about creating clever and intelligent characters more back then. I see it once in a while now, but it’s hard to find!
